About Me
As a self-proclaimed ‘Caniwi’, Barry comes from a small fishing town in British Columbia where he spent much of his youth in the Commercial Fishing industry. With his young family, Barry moved to the sunny Bay of Plenty in 2000 and began his long and successful career, first with LJ Hooker and then Tremains Tauranga.
Barry is a self-driven, tenacious individual who thrived when it came to buying and selling his own properties in Canada. It’s certainly no accident that Barry has now been in Real Estate for 20 years, working hard, 7 days a week, 24/7 – living, eating and breathing the industry he loves. Why does he enjoy it? Because people are at the heart of what he does.

Fueled by helping people and motivated by its rewards, Barry compares his experiences with Real Estate to his fishing career, ‘“You’ve gotta have a bit of luck – however, the harder I work the better the reward for my clients”. A competitive man by nature paired with endless amounts of tenacity (he’s finished 12 marathons and 3 Ultramarathons), you will see the benefits of his “never give up” attitude and personality when he’s working on your behalf!
With a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a passion for teaching, Barry will guide and support his Vendors in their decision to sell or buy. Barry feels strongly about his work being more than a business transaction – it is really a partnership based on listening to your needs and then helping you achieve the outcome you desire.

In sticking to his own advice “If you’re working, then you should be learning”, he’s always ready to readjust the program whether the changes are major or minor. It is important to Barry that he is able to teach, explain and educate his Vendors along the way. Barry makes it clear his job is to provide Vendors with options and solutions – this is simply the way he works.
Awarded most recently as the top individual salesperson for Tremains Northern, Barry has enjoyed many successes throughout his career including Life Membership in the Multimillion Dollar Chapter of the Captains Club for LJ Hooker and placing 10th as the top salesperson in NZ for The L.J. Hooker and Harvey’s group.

Barry is proud to be able to give back to the young and thriving city that has given so much to himself and his four children. With the Tremains TeamUp initiative, Barry is thrilled to be able to support both Tauranga Primary School and The Men’s Shed. Barry is also a proud member of the Tauranga Sunrise Rotary Club where he spends time with like-minded people and has the opportunity to give back to the local community. He has also dedicated time and sponsorship to Tauranga Primary School, NZAIMs Games, Tauranga Intermediate, Wish 4 Fish and Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival.
